The Markham Arts Council regularly hosts workshops spanning a wide range of art disciplines. These events showcase the incredible artists in the city while helping community members find new hobbies, connect with others, and develop their artistic pursuits.
MAC hosts workshops for seniors, serving as a great way to make friends while creating art. See below for events titled Art for Seniors. The Markham Teen Arts Council (satellite committee) regularly offers workshops as well – details at markhamteenarts.org.
Past Markham Arts Council workshops included Nature and the Unusual Art Exhibit at the McKay Art Centre, Comic Book, ‘Pop Art’ Words with local artist Ruth Toy, Love of Nature with Anu Kalra (Art for Seniors), Poppy Making with textile artist Elina Ten, and Little Treasures Keepsake Box (Art for Seniors) with Linda McIntosh, among many others.

The Rouge River Brewery Showcase, running from April 2nd to December 2nd, is an art showcase for local artists from Markham and York Region. Organized by the Markham Arts Council, the showcase features a rotating selection of artists with artwork that is available for purchase. With new artists featured every two months, the showcase promotes a variety of artistic skills and expressions. The events takes place at the Rouge River Brewery which is located on 50 Bullock Drive Unit 8, Markham, Ontario.
